Thing #12 NetLibrary
I opened a new account in NetLibrary, because I couldn't remember my previous id or password. Sound familiar? Using it is not that intuitive - drawn in by the new George Soros book, I had to click on each chapter, then it appeared there was only 1 page until I figured out to click "Next." It also only holds the book open for 15 minutes, and we can no longer download. Having a choice of interface languages is good! The home page used to have teaser titles on it - now you have to click on "list all resources" to see those cute covers. A subject search on "shade plants" had 0 results; gardening 3. Three gardening books? Hmm... Favorites and notes might be useful for the faint of mind, among which I number myself, except that I don't necessarily want others knowing my predilictions (said the girl who splashed herself all over Library Thing). All in all NetLibrary is not that useful. Having pushed it to customers, signed them up for it, and guided them through it, it is generally a pain. Unless everything on the shelves is out - which does happen. I just requested the Soros book in print...
